Maye Delk: A dentist is a Doctor, a dental assistant...well is just that an assistant to the dentist. There is a significant difference in salary. There is also a dental hygienist who is the "gum disease" preventative side of dentistry. A dental hygienist can make good money as well, at least more than a dental assistant.
