Rolanda Merritt: I've had automatic irrigation systems installed in all of my rental properties and homes. It is well worth it. For my rentals, whether it is a multiple unit property or a single family home, the automatic system saves money, time and effort. Since I am responsible for the landscaping and yard maintenance, having the automatic system is the most efficient way to keep the lawns and gardens looking nice. I have my gardeners check the system, the sprinkler heads and the system when they come once a week to make sure everything is working properly and we're not wasting water. As for my home, I wouldn't be without one because I live in an area where temperatures get into the triple digits and the sprinkler system keeps my yard and gardens from dying out in the heat of the summer. I've even had drip systems installed for all of my window boxes and hanging baskets. Most systems are easy to operate, but changing valves and solenoids is a real pain and best le! ft to the professionals, especially if you have long fingernails!...Show more
Rosalba Lingner: Good question... I personally have owned a landscape buiss and have installed many a systems.. There are alot of very possative things that come from a automated system. First, it will increase the value of your home by quite a bit and is a nice feture to add to the list when it comes time to sell... It also will greatly increase the overall quality of your yard.. The system will supply az consistant water supply wich will lower the amount of time your yard has to struggle to mend it's self due to inconsistant watering... Also, it will help save you $$ by suppling the yard with the apropriate amounts of water and can be done so at the apropriat times (usually very early before sun comes up which will allow the plants to suck it up before the sun does). As per the instalation goes.. It's very VERY easy to do youself. Contract it out and you are looking a a nice chunck of c! hange. There are many sites out there that offer a programe t! hat will draw you up a perfect blueprint with a itemized list of all the parts and a explanation of the princables behind a good system set up... I would deffinatly encourage you to tackle this yourself possable hiring a day labor to help do the digging... The systems are very user friendly and iteligant! They come with multi valve stations that can be indavidually programed to accomidate different plant needs and they run on low voltage so energy consuption is not a issue as well they can be purchased with rain sensors that will cut the system when moisture is detected, which is another $$ saver....... Good luck and again it's WAYYYYYY worth it! PS.. Sorry for the spelling but good lord this spell check takes forever!!!...Show more
