Darrin Hixenbaugh: It's good to hear that there are other young people interested in investing. . .the problem that you are going to experience is that it's hard to make much money investing if you don't have a decent bit of money to start out with. For example, lets say that you invest a sizeable amount of money, like $1000 and manage to earn a pretty impressive profit of about 20% (which would likely put you at better than any index and would match a decent number of hedge funds) you will only end up with a year end profit of $200. Most kids looking to use investing to replace a job start with a job and then use their earnings to invest; i just don't think you'll be able to earn the money you want to.
