Can any one explain what there is to know about home schooling?

Dannie Briseno: Homeschool, like public school, varies state by state. Some states offer the option of unschooling, where this is a student-led learning method. Homeschooling can be expensive or cost nothing depending on your choices and goals. For myself, as a Marylander, we pay nothing except the cost of used text books (that's often under $50 per year), and materials I might need to teach my son.For instance, I bought the supplies to build batteries the other day. I might also buy a membership to a museum, like we did last year, or spend money for field trips. Homeschooling can be complicated or easy, freestyle or rigid. It depends on what your parents are willing to do, and how willing you are to learn....Show more

Gilberto Cratin: There are subject requirements in every state that must be satisfied. These are minimums. You can go as far above them as you like. To be accredited with an equivalency, you will have to pass certification tests.

Kizzy Hett: You! first need to understand that each state has it's own laws regarding home schooling. You need to go here http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp to find out what the laws are where you live. Then you need to decide what type of home schooling will be best for you. Online, traditional, a combination of both? There is no way of giving you a price of 'everything' because we don't know yet how you will be home schooling. I home school my 3 kids. I only spend around $100.00 total a year on things we need. I use the library and online FREE printable activities for everything else. Some people choose to spend thousands on pre packaged curriculum and some people do a combo of both and spend a moderate amount of money. Again, it will just depend on what will work the best for you and your family. You mom needs to do a lot of research before she begins this journey. It's not to be taken lightly. My family loves home schooling. It is a perfect fit for us....Show more
