VEGETARIANS ONLY QUESTION?

Mee Blumenfeld: Quorn products are great alternatives.. what i've always been eating in the last 12 months.. you can get a vegetarian version for many chicken products.. nuggets, roast, popcorn, fillets, burgers.. also the meatless meatballs are benificial, along with quorn mince they are low in fat, high in protein

Blythe Noreiga: I've heard of a lot of people eating mushrooms in place of meat. Like instead of having a burger made out of ground beef, they will use a portebello mushroom. I don't know if it has any nutritional value, though.

Stanton Degregorio: Broccoli, soy, and dried apricots have iron. Nuts have protein. You can cook with an iron skillet.

Russel Gajate: Eggs and milk. More vegetables. IronSea vegetables like nori, wakame, and dulse are very high in iron. Less exotic but still good options are iron-fortified breakfast cereals, legumes (chickpeas, lentils, and baked beans), soybeans and tofu, dried fruit (raisins and figs), pumpkin see! ds, broccoli, and blackstrap molasses. Eating these foods along with a food high in vitamin C (citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, and broccoli) will help you to absorb the iron better.Girls need to be particularly concerned about getting adequate iron because some iron is lost during menstruation. Some girls who are vegetarians may not get adequate iron from vegetable sources and they may require a daily supplement. Check with your doctor about your own iron needs.CalciumMilk and yogurt are tops if you're eating dairy products â€" although vegetarians will want to look for yogurt that does not contain the meat by-product gelatin. Tofu, fortified soy milk, calcium-fortified orange juice, green leafy vegetables, and dried figs are also excellent ways for vegetarians (and vegans) to get calcium. Remember that as a teen you're building up your bones for the rest of your life.Because women have a greater risk for getting osteoporosis (weak bones) as adults, it's particularly im! portant for girls to make sure they get enough calcium. Again,! taking a supplement may be necessary to ensure this.Vitamin DPeople need vitamin D to get calcium into our bones. Cow's milk and sunshine are tops on the list for this vitamin. Vegans can try fortified soy milk and fortified breakfast cereals, but they may need a supplement that includes vitamin D, especially during the winter months. Everyone should have some exposure to the sun to help the body produce vitamin D.:) good luck....Show more

Lu Tiner: i love me some large double cheese burger meal

Hans Sachetti: This site run by the mayo clinic has a copy of the vegetarian food pyramid.Vegetarian diet: How to get the best nutritionhttp://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vegetarian-diet/H...

Curtis Josef: Eat meat its not going to hurt you.

James Langmyer: I learned in AP bio that if you eat an equal amount of corn and beans, you will get all of the amino acids you need to live (proteins). Iron, you can get from mixing grains.

Laveta Fathy: 10th answere! r, did you know that man cuts off chickens' beaks so that they won't peck at each others flesh? Yeah, you could call them cannibals. I study agriculture.

Frederick Mccoach: Unless you really crave the "mouth feel" of meat, don't even bother with most of the fakes. Recipes that were designed for grains and beans and vegetables in the first place will bring out the best flavors.Try cooking/eating from cuisines like Japanese, Indian, Ethiopian, etc...Living on just quinoa and beans will get boring pretty quick and you need to eat a more varied diet for good health. Also, find an asian market in your area and try fresh, local tofu ... much better than the grocery store stuff!Rice Dream is fine if you need something shelf stable, but try soy and almond milk from the fresh dairy case.Good luck!

Ronny Dorge: Beans, nuts and eggs.

Jeff Frizzell: I need to know the names of the actual places where the animals are killed and packeged in New York

Michelle Sohre! : I would probably naturally get sick because I haven't had meat in so ! longOtherwise, noNah, I'm a vegetarian for health reasonsI just flash images in my head of a cancer infested colon and a ripply 60 inch waist line. (Mmm...Sexy)

Christy Tirabassi: I eat a lot of home-made seitan - a 'mock meat' made from wheat gluten which can be delicious when prepared and seasoned well. It has near-enough exactly the same 'mouth-feel' as meat depending on how I make it - I can make it taste and feel and look like bacon, chicken breasts, garlic sausage, etc. Yum.

Foster Padgette: Eat nuts - everyday. If you don't, you don't get the intake of those thigns you need.If your allergic... you probably shouldnt be a vego.I'm vego :)

Clifford Gombos: Beans, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains for protein. Many vegetables also have surprising amounts of protein.Beans, greens, eggs, prunes and other dried fruits, sunflower seeds, molasses, fortified cereals for iron.

Joey Mekeel: wall street & NYPD

Joesph Smithmyer: Oh, aren't you specia! l, asking this in the veg**n room. I dare you to watch the video in the second link and tell all the veg**ns that you have no compassion for their pain. You won't even allow people to IM you or email you. COWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marion Wieboldt: Just here for the points. Don't mind me.

Jefferson Sarson: I eat a lot of cheese. Its great for you. You get your good fats, protein, calcium. As for Iron, I'd say just eat a lot of veggies. Most vegetables have tons of protein in them any way. But if that's not enough, you can always just take iron supplements.

Mildred Pombo: There aren't any major slaughterhouses in NY. I found this article simply by Googling. Perhaps you can consider trying to actually research: http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/food/2010...And here's a video of one: http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2011/04/video-behin...

Cassidy Pangrazio: Beans, chickpeas, lentils, nuts and nut butters, whole grains,micro-proteins from! different mushrooms, and lots of fresh veggies and fruits. If you like ! ethnic food, Indian cuisine is chock full of vegetarian/vegan dishes you can learn to cook. It takes a little practice, but if you think about your meals ahead of time, you can shop for these main staples that will get you through. The MOST important thing is to make sure you are getting all the nutrients your body needs. There is a seperate "Food Pyramid" for vegetarians, that really helps you identify what your body needs daily, in order to thrive. Hope this helped!

Solomon Belback: saladchapativegetablepulsesricemilkapple , banana , orangeother fluids...Show more

Rufus Plough: VEGGIE BACON! lol

Norris Rosener: I want to go vegetarian so in place of meat can I just eat quinoa and beans? I also plan on avoiding all dairy products so is Rice Dream a good alternative? I don't want something that has a lot of preservatives in it.

Noah Deni: Rice milk or soy milk are great alternatives to cow milk.I eat a lot of beans (Mexican food) and cheese for my pr! otein. Eggs, too. Veggie burgers and brats are good for BBQs, and the burgers crumble well to use in place of ground beef. For everything else, I just pretty much leave the meat out and don't worry about it. ie. for a picnic, I'll just enjoy the beans and watermelon and potato salad and bread and green salad, etc. I even like going to steak houses to eat (which is what my family prefers for special occasions) but I don't mind because their garlic bread and salads are so good (not to mention dessert).

Tyree Allenbrand: tofu and tempehand Almond Breeze is good

Nadia Crauswell: Quorn + Sosmix :D

Dana Russian: I suggest you carry around a small bottle of chicken scent Eau de Parfume and spray it around you.. so people will come up to you and say, "Been eating chicken, have you?"Haha, gotta love that ad..

Buster Exline: beans, vegetables and fruit. nuts, soy

Shon Almquist: Throw up in the toilet because you just ate some animal, in response to the te! xture of the flesh?Do you find meat unpalatable? (If so you have someth! ing very wrong with you..)And just a side question.. whenever you see meat, do you immediately flash in your head, images of bloodily shaved cows and chickens?
