Why should i become vegetarian?

Somer Distilo: yes, it's definitely true that animal cruelty powers the meat industry.here's hard evidence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vNJs2uIBHM

Ollie Desalvo: you shouldn't. meat is essential to good health. Don't pay attention to the troll and her propaganda video.

Curtis Josef: go on google videos and look up earthlings. it showes all the horrible things that happen in slaughter houses and fur factories.

Hipolito Rightmire: http://www.goveg.com/http://www.goveg.com/factoryFarming.asphttp://meat.org/http://www.goveg.com/healthConcerns.asphttp://www.goveg.com/environment.asphttp://www.goveg.com/worldhunger.aspThere is every reason to go veg, and no reason not to. I would recommend vegan, if you actually care about cruelty to animals, as egg-laying hens and dairy producing cows endure the same cruelty and enslavement as meat animals. No one's going to convince you, you have to make your own decision, but going veg is the right one....Show more

Monroe Rainey: Ignorance is bliss. This is the truth. I didn't know what they did to the animals. As soon as I found out, minus all of the propaganda, I didn't even have a chance to eat my "last hamburger" or whatever, because I just couldn't do it. It didn't feel right. If you care for animals, it is your right to know. How would you feel if they were taking your dogs babies and grinding them up and feeding them to you without telling you what or where they came from. They just tasted good. If you are serious about looking into this, be prepared for some unpretty sights. Your life could change before your eyes....Show more

Charissa Bichsel: Vegetarianism has become the most popular diet among the young generations facing the new millennium. This discipline eliminates the intake of meat and in some cases also the consumption of dairy products and eggs. Are there enough reasons to make you change your eating habits? My purpose is to prove that vegetarianism is the die! t that offers more benefits to our health, spirit, and society! . Nowadays, health is the number one individual and governmental concern. Health is a fragile factor, and its behavior relays mostly on the nutritional quality of the food we ingest. A balanced non-vegetarian diet allows the consumption of all four main food groups including meat and other animal by-products that are important protein and fat sources. Most of us consume more proteins and fats than we need. An excess of proteins can cause kidney failure and/or osteoporosis, and a high-fat diet can eventually lead to heart disease, cancer, obesity, and diabetes. On the other hand, vegetarians get protein from grains, beans, vegetables, and low-fat food. This is how they reduce the risk of most diseases caused by fats. It is a myth to believe that vegetarians don't get enough proteins or that their diet is not balanced because they don't eat meat. The key is variety and accurate combinations of energy and protein sources. If I were asked to describe a vegetarian, I would immed! iately mention they are very disciplined people. It has been proved that there exists a remarkable correlation between the people who succeed and people who follow a disciplined lifestyle. People who are faithful to the disciplines they have acquired show integrity, a remarkable behavior, and they are usually in a good mood. Vegetarians, always concerned about quality and discipline, develop a greater social responsibility that motivates them to improve their environment. Moreover, environmental issues have been capturing public attention because of their relevancy and increasing deterioration of our quality of life. If you are concerned about the environment, consider that massive meat production can have a negative impact on tropical rain forests, soil stability, and air and water quality. Large extensions of forests have been cut and changed into grasslands that provide cattle with food. To conserve grasslands, fertilizers and other chemical substances are used; conseque! ntly, soil and water resources are polluted. Even though there are meth! ods that avoid this kind of deterioration, producers prefer to ignore them so they can keep satisfying the increasing meat demand without affecting their production rates. Vegetarians' life spans are increased and through this discipline they learn to live quality in all the possible aspects. Besides, their beliefs are congruent with their lifestyle and they take responsibility and action for problems within their own bodies and in their surroundings. Take a look at yourself. Is your health at risk? Have you been able to reach your goals? Are you a factor of change and improvement within your society? You must at least try becoming a vegetarian now that you know it is a tempting challenge and an exciting experiment that has advantages and no risks. Do it for your body, for your lifestyle, or for your environment, but do it. Stop letting others have all the credit, the fun, and the quality....Show more

Salvatore Walls: Lots of reasons.Meat is bad for the enviornment:Cow manure is one of the biggest pollutions in our water today. If we didn’t raise all these stinky cows then there wouldn’t be all that polluted water. Meat eaters get all hyperactive when it comes to wasting water. Well if they were really that concerned then they wouldn’t be eating meat. That’s because it takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef. It usually takes sixteen pounds of grain to produce one pound of beef when that grain could go to hungry people all over the world. One acre of pasture produces 165 pounds of beef. That same acre can instead produce 20,000 pounds of potatoes. What can you do with pot! atoes? You can make French fries and potato chips and baked potatoes an! d billions of other things! We don’t need to eat meat. We have other things to survive on.Meat is bad for your health:People say that vegetarians are anorexic, bulimic little brats who are going to die at a young age. That’s not true. Most vegetarians are really healthy in fact. If you still get vitamins and protein and the stuff you need then your fine. Meat has too much fat, cholesterol and salt in it. It also has urine, pus, and feces in it. Mmm. Every pack of chicken has a little bit of all of that in it. It’s true. Meat is not safe. Most people think its fine. Well it’s not. Lots of people die and get sick each year from bad meat. Tainted meat, mad cow disease oh and you know that swine flue that everyone’s freaking out about? That is a virus that came from piggies. (I know you don’t get it from eating pigs). Inorganic acids are toxic for humans and those happen to be in meat. Artificial hormones, steroids, and other chemicals are in meat too. Maggots and w! orms can also be in your meat!Animals are treated terribly: The animals that people eat don’t come from red barns full of happy animals and a happy farmer who pets them and cares for them. In reality they are abused hormone filled fat animals. Chickens are too heavy to hold their own weight and many of them collapse, breaking their fragile little legs and then they are unable to walk to get food and water. Those ones get trampled by other chickens and die. Chickens get de-beaked which of course means they get their beaks cut off. The chicken producers say it’s harmless and it’s like cutting ones nails. It’s not! After about seven to eight weeks of suffering, the chickens are crammed into tiny crates and loaded onto trucks where they are taken to the slaughter house. You have to see it to know how terrible it is. Some chicken producers have been known to do such cruel and brutal things to the poor chickens. There was a few who thought it was fun to rip the hea! ds off of chickens and write on the wall with their blood. They also ra! n chickens over with fork-lift trucks and squeezed them until they popped like balloons. Cows and pigs aren’t treated to luxurious either. They get kicked around and stomped on for no reason at all. They too live terrible lives like chickens and when they get to the slaughter house, they get their throats cut without anything to make them unconscious. It’s a really messed up thing to have to go thru. The raising of animals for meat is not the only thing people do with animals that is so cruel. There are also puppy mills, circuses, rodeos, animal testing, dog fights, donkey basketball, horse races, pet abuse, animals used for fur and leather and lots more things that have to do with animals cruelty.Sorry, it's a little long, but hey I'm trying to convince you to be a vegetarian. lol...Show more

Kim Gerbino: They arrive dead on your plate, is that alone not cruelty enough for you?

Season Confalone: Well I'm a vegetarian and yeah it's true. It's pretty unfair t! o animals. Most of them are kept chained up and in pens their whole lives. It's super cruel and none of them really live at all.But no, I'm not like a PETA freak...sea kittens XD

Marco Stolarz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIjanhKqVC4

Cierra Gadbaw: Im a vegetarian, and 13 years old. Yes, people do cruel things to animals. They feed them medications like steriods, and tons of hormones to make them grow unnaturally. I hear that they even shoot cows in the head (goveg.com). They cram the animals in small cages, and are in unhealthy living environments. The females are over impregnated, and they are so tired and out of energy that they are shipped off to slaughter. Just go to GoVeg.com, and click on the meet the animals link. Another thing is what is in the meat. Whatever the animals ate, YOU eat. If they ate poop, you may very well be eating poop! And yes, you are consuming all of the medications they were fed. Plus, i personally think its disgusting thinking th! at you are eating a DECAYING animal. Picture yourself eating a dead hum! an. Its basically the same thing. When you are a vegetarian, you are 40% less likely to develop certain types of CANCER. Eating meat makes you OBESE. It can lead to heart disease, stroke, and other major medical issues. I really hope you take this into consideration. I guarantee if you go to GoVeg.com, you will instantly be CONVINCED! Good luck with your decision, and all of us vegetarians are rooting for you!...Show more
