minor car accident but no police report made?

Alden Sabio: 2

Dale Mccoun: former claim adjuster here. You can try it but if insurance denies your claim you will owe it out of pocket, she can take you to small claims court. Sorry.

Delmy Varano: A few things: I doubt if 18-year-old you can make an eyeball estimate of the damage; there could be body or support structure damage. Second: professional car repair is generally more expensive than you would guess. You are at fault; the lady has the right to get her car fixed as close to it was before the accident as she can. Third, insurance companies tend to get peeved when a car they insure is in an accident and it isn't reported. I've got the feeling you didn't tell your parents about it. If the lady's policy is like mine, she can file with her insurance company, and it will come back for the cost to your parents' company, which will ask them what is going on. Busted. But -- if you were driving their car with their permission, the insurance should be v! alid, even if you are not on the insurance. My best advice: tell your parents; let them notify their insurance company, and let the company do its job. Accidents happen; that's why we have insurance. No biggie....Show more

Clifford Riggleman: 2k - 5k is normal. you promised to pay her back, she could easily tell the cops if you refuse to pay and then you may get hit with a hit and run.pay the bill, tell your parents and ask them to help. you made a promise and 2k for an accident is reasonable.

Mack Ukich: $2300 is CHEAP for a new bumper. That IS what you agreed to pay for. Also note: MOST insurance WON'T pay without a police report.Additional note: Insurance follows the CAR, not just the driver. Unless you are expressly EXCLUDED, or you did not have permission to drive the car (which makes you a car thief), you ARE covered as an 'occasional driver'.

David Kuper: in a situation like this, you might have said the wrong thing, "I'll pay for your damages! ." i know its too late now, but you should have filed a report! .your parents insurance probably would have covered it. but what you can do is find another estimate that is cheapest, and you can challenge her on that.

Ninfa Asby: It doesn't take much damage to add up to $2,300. Yes you can turn it in to your insurance!!!
